Bald Eagle

Bald eagle is national bird symbol of the United States. It represents the freedom, courage, independence, strength. Bald eagle is the only unique eagle in North America.


The image of the Bald eagle can be found on the president's flag, one dollar bill, Federal agency.
Facts about Bald Eagle:

• Bald eagles have 7,000 feathers.
• lifting power is about 4 pounds.
• Bald Eagle can fly to an altitude of 10,000 feet, during level flight and they can achieve speeds of about 30-35 mph.
• All eagles are renowned for their excellent eyesight. 
• The congress adopted it as the national symbol in 1782.
• Benjamin Franklin proposed that turkey should be chosen for the symbol of the nation instead Bald eagle. 
• As the human population grew, the Bald eagle population declined.
